Reasonable quality for a reasonable price with extra on top

I've stayed for two nights in the middle of January and enjoyed it quite a bit! The hotel is located in the central area, all the restaurants are nearby plus one of the best ones is directly at the top of the hotel. They cook quite an adorable mofongo. The room had an air conditioner but no window (which was a bit sad, but it made the room much quieter). Owner of the hotel is an extremely nice person to talk to with a lot of interesting experience to share.

In the center of everything!

We checked in for one night before our cruise. Hotel Milano is an older hotel in the middle of everything. I was picturing how it must have been years ago! It still has the antique features of a nice hotel. Our room and bathroom was clean and nice. We had a small fridge in the room and a modern tv. We were able to open the windows and enjoy the ocean breezes and the sounds of the city! There is not a room safe but there is a safety deposit box at the front desk. It takes two keys to open the box just like at your bank! I felt very secure with this option. I have been to Puerto Rico several times for cruises but have never stayed the night. Hotel Milano and Old San Juan was so much more than I expected! I will stay here again on my next San Juan cruise! The staff was very helpful and nice. They helped with directions and called us a taxi because our cruise port was further away than we thought. There is one within walking distance. As we were leaving I noticed they were keeping luggage for people until check in or till time for their cruise. That's a nice option to have also! I recommend staying with them!

A great location

I was taught in my youth, if you only going to sleep someplace, and not use any of the perks they charge for, sleep cheap. Hotel Milano, isn't exactly cheap, but it is economical. I discovered it here on TripAdvisor. 4 stars, and less than half the cost of other hotels.

It has 5 of the 6 things I look for in a hotel. Value for the price, clean rooms, good bed, great location, good shower What it was missing, free coffee, and free breakfast. It has a rooftop restaurant where breakfast is just $5, or coffee for $2. It also has many places to eat within walking distance.

We were on a cruise, and Hotel Milano is walking distance to the port. We also found out it is walking distance to most places in Old San Juan. If you feel you've walked to far the local trolley runs just a few blocks away. Old San Juan in amazing, and we hope to return. If we do, we will also return to Hotel Milano.

A good stay in Old Town

My sister and I stayed at the Hotel Milano one night prior to a cruise. The location is ideal and the hotel was clean and comfortable. We were able to go to our rooms earlier than the regular check in time. After a red eye flight we really appreciated that. The man at the desk was very helpful, giving us a map of the area and pointing out where to get the free trolley. It's practically across the street, and the trolley takes you to many sights in Old Town. The hotel staff were very helpful the next morning when we needed a taxi to get to the cruise terminal. Do try the rooftop restaurant. It's delicious and lots of fun.

We booked this hotel last minute and it was the best. It is an older hotel but the rooms are clean and in the middle of old San Juan so everything is walking distance. Cruise port 10 mins walking distance. Awesome staff, perfect location.

Small older hotel

The location was perfect. I would recommend this hotel but keep in mind it is older and fairly small and basic. The service was great/friendly and helpful. The room was very simple and the bed was queen size. The restroom was adequate size (mich bigger than a cruise restroom).

The restaurant above is fantastic. My only recommendation is to ask for a room away from the elevator. I received and upgrade and was very appreciative for the room I had but I could occasionally here the elevator. Not that bad tho.

The elevator is a bit old but it's functional and has instructions for use. The location and price were just what I needed for this trip. I'm very thankful for the staff for being kind.

From cruisecritic.com:

The Cheap, but Cheerful Hotel: Hotel Milano (307 Fortaleza St. (877-729-9050, from $85) is a wonderful addition to the scene; more like an Italian pensione, its rooms are clean, basic and inexpensive.

Concierge.com :
This small, cozy hotel in the center of Old San Juan will simply enchant you with its beautiful classic architecture and elegant ambiance. Its location is definitely one of its major assets—the Milano is situated in the heart of the city on La Fortaleza Street, within walking distance to everything in the district. It sits in a restored colonial building, and offers excellent, personalized service. The Panorama Terrace Bar & Latin Grill is located within the Milano.
